Based on the first Postcolonial Cinema events past year , the AZ atelier is hosting

a series of curated anti colonialism/ „colonial history“ movie events inside the LUX.

Les Tirailleurs Senegalais: 2024 marked the 80.anniversary of the “Thiaroye massacre” in Dakar/Senegal. The Tirailleurs who fought in WWII on French territory, as part of the French army, ended up as war prisoners in German Camps in the occupied North of France, while French soldiers were deported into prison camps on German soil.

After almost “four years of detention” and forced labor in the North of France, these African soldiers, recruited out of more than 10 French colonies in West Africa, were sent back to Senegal in 1944 and killed inside the Thiaroye military camp without receiving any salary.

Bis zu vier Jahre befanden sich zahlreiche Soldaten der ehemaligen Französischen Kolonial- armee in Gefangenschaft ihrer kolonialen Generäle, die unter dem Befehl Deutschlands, die Deportation per Schiff , der in Nordfrankreich inhaftierten afrikanischen Soldaten durchführten. Eine Deportation mit dem Ziel: Thiaroye Camp, Dakar/Senegal, die in einem  Massaker ohne Auszahlung ihres ausstehenden Soldes endete. [Atelier Gruppe]
